CENTRAL RANGES TRADE TRAINING CENTRE
1 YEAR CONTRACT

The Central Ranges Technical Trade Centres (CRTTC) are currently serving the needs of schools and industries across an area from Wallan/Whittlesea in the south to Euroa in the north and to Alexandra in the East, Assumption College in the West. The cluster comprises ten State, Catholic and Special Schools in partnership with Kangan Batman and Goulburn Ovens TAFEs. There are four hubs of learning with the major hubs located in Whittlesea and Seymour delivering Automotive, Engineering,
Building and Construction courses. All sites are fully operational with strong enrolments for 2017.

The consortium is seeking the services of a self-motivated person with high level skills in communication and developing partnerships to take on the role of Manager. The role involves the negotiation of user agreements for the facilities and the use of the CRTTC to develop the organisation of the teaching programs to ensure the economic viability and sustainability of the entity. Applicants will need a working knowledge of School and industrial based OH&S requirements.

The successful applicant will be based in dual locations alternating between Seymour and Whittlesea Hubs. The salary will be 0.4 of an annual salary equivalent of $100,000. A significant contribution will be provided towards fuel costs which will be negotiated with the successful applicant, plus a laptop. The successful applicant would take up the position from February 24th, 2017.

* Teachers Resume, Office Re Opens, Monday 30th January 2017. 
* College Welcome Interviews, Book List Collection, Tuesday 31st January 2017. Check your interview time made in 2016.
* Classes Begin, Wednesday 1st February 2017. 9am, Year Level Assemblies. 9.15am, College Assembly. 9.50am, Session 2 start of classes.

Our College Leaders take a visit to Parliament

Our current and future College Leaders were very privileged to be invited to Parliament last week by Ms Danielle Green MP for Yan Yean.

The students were able to watch question time in The Legislative Council or the Upper House of the Victorian Parliament. The students were intrigued with the passion that both sides of politics showed for their cause. The students toured the venue, including the Library and Lower House and listened to stories of the present and past serving members.

The Deputy Premier, Mr James Merlino, also gave up his valuable time to visit with our students. WSC would like to thank all those involved in providing this opportunity to our students.

2016 Year 12's

Could all 2016 Year 12's, please visit the College and see Lee in the library, over the next few days to collect their Year 12 Statement of Results, Vic Certificate of Education or Vic Certificate of Applied Learning.

Zooper Dooper Sale

At the Amazing Race Monday 12.12.16, we will be selling Zooper Doopers for 50 cents. All money raised will go towards Welfare.

Uniform Shoes

on Monday, 05 December 2016.

A reminder that as of 2017, our Uniform Policy has been revised by College Council to exclude the wearing of T-Bar shoes for girls.

Students will be required to wear black closed in, laced leather school shoes (as per image).

All our 2017, Year 7 students and those students new to the College in 2017 will be required to wear the pictured school shoe. Existing WSC students who currently have T-Bar shoes will be allowed to wear those until the end of 2017. Should your student require new shoes for 2017 we ask that you purchase the closed in school shoe.

2017 Year 11 and 12 Booklist Collection

The Year 11 and Year 12 (2017) booklist items that were due to be collected from the College by Thursday 1st December have been delayed due to a delivery issue. They are now expected to arrive by Friday 2nd December. 

Attention Year 7 to 9 Families

on Tuesday, 29 November 2016.

Normal classes are operating at the conclusion of exams for all students in Year's 7 to 9. Any student who is signed out from the College must have parent approval and be signed out by a listed contact person on file. Students who are signed out must have a valid reason which is approved by the College.

BBQ Tomorrow

on Monday, 21 November 2016.

WSC will be partipating in White Ribbon Day tomorrow with our Year 7's receiving a presentation from CEO of the Mitchell Shire, Mr David Turnbull who is a White Ribbon Day Ambassador.

White Ribbon began in Australia in 2003. It is Australia's only national male-led violence prevention campaign and is part of the largest global male-led movement to stop men's violence against women. Activity focuses on primary prevention programs in schools and workplaces as well as advocating for change in attitudes and practices in the community, industry and in public policy. White Ribbon Australia is 90% community funded.

All of our WSC students will be involved in a free BBQ for lunch after presentation.

Compass Launch 2017

Wallan Secondary College is changing our Student Management Portal to Compass in 2017. We invite parents to download a copy of the Parent Booklet to take a look at what Compass can offer. Parent logins will be available for Compass when you attend Welcome Interviews with your child on Tuesday 31st January 2017. In the mean time, take a look at the Booklet to familiarise yourself with the new system. You can also download the app on your iOS or Android device ready for when you get your login details. Search the Apple App Store or Google Play Store for "Compass School Manager".

Student timetable information is now available on Compass for 2017. Current students can proceed to Compass now by visiting and https://wallansc-vic.compass.education and login with the same details used to login to a WSC computer or the current Student Management Portal. New students starting in 2017 will obtain their login details and timetable information during Welcome Interviews. Timetable information for 2017 is provisional and is subject to change.

PSW

Campbellfield PSW Store is open next Monday & Tuesday and we encourage parents to pop in and purchase uniforms pre Christmas or at least place a lay-by to secure their uniform before the January rush.
PSW has had a steady flow of families go through their Retail Store and their intent is to offer all our families the opportunity to be fitted with plenty of time and flexibility.

Our 3 High Achievers

Congratulations from all the Wallan Secondary College community to our three high achievers for 2016.

Dylan Cornish who is the Dux of 2016, achieved an ATAR of 98.65 and College Captain Taylor Carr achieved an ATAR of 82.2. 

Artur Gromek called into the College also to let us know of his ATAR, a fantastic result of 96.7.

Furthermore, we wish to congratulate all of our graduating Year 12's of 2016 for their outstanding achievements throughout the year. We wish them all the very best of luck in their future endeavours and pathways.

The final breakfast club for 2016 will be happening this Tuesday. As a special Bacon and Egg sandwiches will be made for the last day. Spread the word, pop over to the breakfast club from 8am on Tuesday morning over at Cafe on the Green.

Year 7 2017 Information Night

Our Information Night for Year 7 students starting in 2017 is on tonight. The evening begins at 6pm with College tours before the presentation at 7pm.

A reminder that if your student is joining us for Year 7 in 2017 they will receive their booklist and other information tonight therefore it is important that your student comes along.
