College Uniform

The College Council requires all students enrolled at Wallan Secondary College to follow a dress code.

All students are required to wear the correct College uniform to and from the College, at the College and for all College activities unless advised by the Principal.

All students are required to dress neatly, modestly and safely whilst undertaking any College based activity. Students and caregivers should note that failure to comply with the College Uniform Policy (as ratified by College Council) is considered to be a breach of their responsibilities as a student of Wallan Secondary College.

Students are required to dress as follows:

GIRLS
SUMMER UNIFORM –Terms 1 & 4

• Summer Striped Dress
• Maroon College Blazer with emblem (optional)
• College waterproof Sports jacket
• Maroon WSC branded Sun smart Cap
• White Knee Length or Fold over Ankle socks (NO LOGOS)
• Black leather lace up school shoes, flat soles, low heels - NO T BARS or BALLET FLATS

WINTER UNIFORM – Terms 2 & 3

• Woollen Skirt and/or College Grey Trousers
• Long or short sleeve white button up shirt, with College emblem
• Maroon woollen/cotton jumper with College emblem OR black jumper (Senior School, Years 10 -12 only)
• College waterproof Sports jacket
• Maroon College Blazer with emblem (optional)
• College Tie
• Black opaque tights (not pantyhose) or black socks (NO LOGOS)
• Black leather lace up school shoes, flat soles, low heels - NO T BARS or BALLET FLATS

SPORTS UNIFORM

• Maroon polo with emblem
• Black College Shorts with emblem
• Black College track pants with emblem
• College waterproof sports jacket
• White ankle sports socks (NO LOGOS)
• Sports shoes with non-marking soles. Correct sports shoes must be worn, no canvas shoes will be allowed.
• Maroon WSC branded Sun smart Cap.

BOYS
SUMMER UNIFORM –Terms 1 & 4

• Grey trousers with white socks and/or
• Grey shorts with white fold-over ankle socks (NO LOGOS)
• Short sleeve button up white shirt with College emblem
• Maroon College Blazer with emblem (optional)
• College waterproof Sports jacket
• Maroon WSC branded Sun smart Cap
• Black leather lace up school shoes, flat soles, low heels - NO T BARS or BALLET FLATS

WINTER UNIFORM –Terms 2 & 3  

• College Grey Trousers, with College emblem
• Long or short sleeve white button up shirt, with College emblem
• Maroon woollen/cotton jumper with College emblem OR black jumper (Senior School, Years 10 -12 only)
• College waterproof Sports jacket
• Maroon College Blazer with emblem (optional)
• College Tie

When wearing the uniform students must ensure that: 

  • The shirt is tucked in when worn with a jumper, jacket or blazer
  • The winter skirt and summer dress must be no shorter in length than 5cm above the knee.

MISCELLANEOUS ITEMS

• Compulsory: Black backpack with College emblem.
• College Beanie
• College Cap
• College Scarf

JEWELLERY

For Duty of Care and OH&S purposes, ear studs or sleepers only are acceptable.

• Sleepers must be a standard size – smaller than a 5c piece.
• All other facial and body piercings are forbidden, for the above reason.

Students who wear facial/body piercings to school will automatically receive a lunchtime detention. Repeat offenders and those who do not attend their lunchtime detention will receive an internal suspension.
Students who continually refuse to remove piercings will be sent home with parental consent until they comply.

• Ear spacers, Bolas and any other piercings which are not standard ear sleepers or studs are not permitted.
• Students should wear a watch (which will need to be removed in design technology subjects due to Duty of Care requirements). Other jewellery, such as bracelets, necklaces, and chokers must not be worn.
• Medi-Alerts are permitted.
• Makeup is not permitted.
• Nails should be short in length for OH&S reasons.
• Non clear nail polish is not permitted.
• One "charity-support" item at a time may be worn e.g. plastic bracelet or pin.

***ABSOLUTELY NO FACIAL PIERCINGS ARE PERMITTED***

PIERCINGS COVERED WITH BANDAIDS ARE NOT PERMITTED.

Students will not be allowed to attend classes wearing any jewellery other than that stated above.

SHOES

• Black leather lace up school shoes for both boys and girls, only.

Slip on shoes, T Bars, skate shoes and soft leather ballet-type shoes or high heeled shoes are not permitted at any time.

***STUDENTS NOT WEARING CORRECT FOOTWEAR WILLNOT BE PERMITTED TO ATTEND CLASSES***

These include Technology, Science and Physical Education/Sport classes.

HAIR
Students' haircuts must be neat and moderate and not be in extreme or exaggerated styles. Marked contrasts of colour, dreadlocks or use of hair products to create large spikes are not considered to be moderate. Students considering colour change must ensure that the colour remains one that occurs naturally. If in doubt, students should consult their Year Level Leader before colouring or styling their hair.

TATTOOS
Under no circumstances are visible tattoos or other forms of body art permitted. (Cultural exemptions are available through the Principal)

SUNGLASSES
Students are permitted to wear sunglasses when outdoors as stated in the College Sun Smart – UV Policy. Under no circumstances are sunglasses to be worn indoors.
