Damage to the College

on Monday, 06 February 2017.

It is with great disappointment and sadness that I was called into our College this morning to find a large amount of damage to College property. All of our external signage was kicked over, lights broken, speakers pulled out of the walls and glass windows broken. This damage and complete lack of respect for our College grounds concerns me greatly.

The damage appears to have occurred last night. Such damage and the costly repairs means that many College resources will not be able to be purchased – for example IT cannot update computers, Food Tech will need to reduce food costs.

We have a beautiful environment here at Wallan Secondary College and I am saddened that you our students had to see this when you arrived this morning. The police are currently investigating this damage and I will work with them in every way possible to find out who has done this.

I would ask that if anyone is aware or hears rumours about who might have done this, you speak to me as soon as possible.

I thank each and every one of you for your assistance with this.

College Photos

An update regarding College Photos on Thursday. Given the feedback we have received regarding the holding of PE practical sessions on this day it has been decided that all PE classes will hold a theory session except for the Year 10's. Therefore all students will attend in full College Uniform. All Year 10's will be required to bring their PE uniform to change into.

Photos of students will be taken individually this year and not as a group. If your student does not have their tie as yet, the College will have a supply of ties on hand.

Students not in full College Uniform will not have their photo taken and will have to do so on the catch up day.

Our College Leaders take a visit to Parliament

Our current and future College Leaders were very privileged to be invited to Parliament last week by Ms Danielle Green MP for Yan Yean.

The students were able to watch question time in The Legislative Council or the Upper House of the Victorian Parliament. The students were intrigued with the passion that both sides of politics showed for their cause. The students toured the venue, including the Library and Lower House and listened to stories of the present and past serving members.

The Deputy Premier, Mr James Merlino, also gave up his valuable time to visit with our students. WSC would like to thank all those involved in providing this opportunity to our students.
