Administration of Medication @WSC

In keeping with DEECD policy, Wallan Secondary College will no longer administer analgesics (Aspirin, Panadol, Paracetamol, etc.) to any student as these can mask signs and symptoms of serious illness or injury. Supplies of analgesics will not be held at the College.   

Students who require prescription medication to be administered during school hours, must supply the College with written advice on a Medication Authority Form (see download) for all medication. The form should be completed by the student’s medical/health practitioner ensuring that the medication is warranted.

Note: Medication to treat asthma or anaphylaxis does not need to be accompanied by the Medication Authority Form as it is covered in student’s Management Plan.

If your student suffers from conditions such as hayfever, wherever possible please ensure that medication is administered outside of school hours.

It is not the school’s role to:

  • interpret behaviour in relation to a medical condition
  • monitor the effects of medication
