Happy and Sad

From our Chaplain

Well, it is sad to say this will be my last article as I will be leaving at the end of this year.

I will be taking 12 months leave and moving to the sunny coast of NSW (so kind of happy and sad), then deciding at the end of next year if I will be returning or staying in NSW, or moving on to other things.

It has been a pleasure working at Wallan Secondary College for the last 4 ½ years.

With the support of Ms Wendy Caramarco I have been able to complete further training to assist me in my role as Chaplain and I have grown personally as well.

I have enjoyed my support role in assisting Adrian Hempfing in the Welfare of students, staff and parents concerns. It has been a privilege to run programs such as "No Apologies" for the Year 9 level and to provide lunch time programs such as the Year 11 Lounge and Chill Out Club.

So thank you to everyone that has supported and had faith in me in my role as Chaplain. It has been an honour to work alongside the amazing staff here at Wallan, who do a fantastic job not only in teaching, but who also go the extra mile to supporting students in their wellbeing.

It certainly takes a team effort to run all aspects of a school and I have been proud to have been part of this amazing team which I will miss very much.

But it is time for me to take some time out and see what the next part of my life is to bring.

So we will see if it leads me back to Wallan?.....

I wish you all a very MERRY CHRISTMAS, take care over the holiday period and I leave you with my little motto: "Life is short - never take it for granted, treat others with respect and live a life without regrets".

God Bless,

Ms Gillian Smith
