Resource Centre - Computer Hardware Changes

Wednesday, 25 February 2015

Our Resource Centre computers are getting a minor upgrade during Term 1. We are removing the hard drives in these computers and replacing them with "Solid State Drives" (SSD's). By upgrading them with SSD's, it will improve the speed and performance of the workstations. The SSD's do not contain any moving parts like an older style "Hard Disk Drive" (HDD), so the speed of these computers will be noticed by students once the upgrades are completed.

These computers see high usage, with class teachers booking them daily and students also utilise these them during recess, lunch times and after school during our popular Homework Club.

Many thanks to Lachlan Bowtell, Adam Hannington-Chen and Taner Kurtulus (pictured above) for their assistance in helping Chris (DET Specialist Technician) and I with the installation. It is great to see some of our Year 10 students interested in ICT utilising their interests to develop skills in the ICT field.

Lionel Camilleri, ICT Manager.
