Over the past five months Mitchell Youth Council with support from the Mitchell Shire Youth Coordinator Buffy Leadbeater have spent many hours researching, studying and investigating ideas to develop posters, merchandise, information brochures and a significant Social Media Platform to address the issue of Cyber Bullying and online safety for young people.
At the launch of 'Cyber Tattoo', Youth Council Mayor Eleisha Kubale spoke passionately about the campaign stating, "It became obvious to all of us when discussing and liaising with our peers that we would like to create a campaign that was both distinctive and remarkable. We wanted to make a difference in our community and ensure that people understand the risks that can arise with using social media."
"This campaign will not stop here today this is just the beginning. The Youth Councillors will work hard over the coming months, promoting, advocating and discussing this campaign across our community. We will imbed this campaign into our duties as Youth Councillors to educate and inform young people aiming to reduce the risk of bullying and anti-social behaviour online."
