The first cycle of reports have now been published, and are available using student and parent Compass logins. All students and parents are encouraged to view these reports at your earliest opportunity, and engage in open and honest conversations with teachers to celebrate achievement and plan for improvement.
An explanation of the Wallan Secondary College Progress Report is as follows:
The aim of the progress reporting system is to increase feedback to students, parents and teachers of a student's academic achievement as well as their attitude and effort towards their learning. Over the course of the year students, parents and teachers will be in a position to follow student progress in each subject studied.
There are two components to each progress report:
1) Achievement Score: Teachers will make an on balance judgement about each student's achievement, informing you and your child about how they are performing in that subject. From the second reporting cycle, student achievement will be plotted on a graph. As a result, over the year you will be able to follow the progress of your child's achievement in each subject.
Attitude and Effort Score: The table shows your child's score for attitude and effort in the subject. From the second cycle, over the year you will also be able to follow the progress of your child's attitude and effort in each subject.
2) Our expected level of student achievement has been set at 70%; this should be used as a guide of our expectations of all students.
The scores in the table are recorded in increments of 10 on a percentage scale. If you are unsure why data is missing from a subject area please contact your child's year level leader for an explanation.
