Off Tap Roofing Supports School-based Apprenticeship

Thomas Mathieson is a Year 10 student at Wallan Secondary who through his own initiative arranged for some work experience with a local roof plumbing business based in Wallan.

Thomas totally enjoyed the experience and decided this was a career he wished to pursue. He spoke to his employer, Tyson Morrison from Off Tap Roofing enquiring whether he would consider employing Thomas as a school-based apprentice. Based on Thomas’s work performance and genuine interest in the workplace, Tyson was more than happy to support Thomas’s wish.
As a result, Thomas will now work one day per week with his employer for the remainder of Year 10 as a school-based apprentice and then in 2024 he will transition to two days per week. Thomas will now be required to attend Kangan Institute in Broadmeadows as part of his obligation as an apprentice.
