Some of our Year 9 students had the opportunity to visit La Trobe University to learn about the cardiovascular system.
They participated in a lecture on the heart, blood vessels, liver and brain and then participated in an experiment measuring the electrical conductivity of heart pre and post exercise using an electrocardiogram.
The students learnt about potential career pathways and various opportunities that can arise through studying science.
They then went into a laboratory where they learnt about, got to see and hold human hearts and brains. Following this our students got to look at samples of a mouse heart, liver, brain and a beating Zebrafish heart through a microscope.
The students were very well behaved and represented the college in an outstanding manner. Congratulations to Alyssa Dwyer who received the award of being most engaged and inquisitive on the day.
