The Australian Defence Force (ADF) Long Tan Youth Leadership and Teamwork Awards commenced in 2006 to foster the development of youth in terms of behaviour and attributes considered essential in Australia’s future leaders.
The awards are a means to formally recognise those students who have demonstrated leadership and teamwork within their school and the broader community, and who display strong personal ethical values, such as doing one’s best, respecting others and “mateship” – aspects considered essential to the ADF and Australian Society.
Participation in the awards program is open to Wallan Secondary College students enrolled in Year 10 and/or Year 12.
The program supports the presentation of up to two awards to successful students each year from participating schools – one from Year 10 and another from Year 12. The successful recipients will receive a financial reward of $250 (Year 10) and $550 (Year 12).
We are asking our community to nominate a Wallan Secondary Student by writing a submission in 500 words or less outlining the the ways in which they, the student, has displayed the behaviours and attributes of a Long Tan Award recipient. Your submission should include include examples of community involvement, leadership, values, communication, co-operation, teamwork and problem solving.
Nominations should be addressed to Ms Lauren Mozina and forwarded to firstname.lastname@example.org no later than Tuesday 25.08.20
The successful recipients will be announced at the 2020 Presentation Evening.
