Zonta is an international organisation founded in 1991 to advocate on behalf of women and girls. Zonta Clubs around the world volunteer their time, talents and support to service projects, creating change to improve the lives of women and girls.
Within the Mitchell Shire, Zonta Mitchell raises awareness of issues that affect women and girls. The club has been operating for almost four years.
In 2020, the Zonta Club of Mitchell offered an inaugural award to encourage and assist the education of a Year 10 female student within the Mitchell Shire. We are pleased to announce that Wallan Secondary College was selected as the first recipient school of such a prestigious award. We are honoured and grateful to the Zonta Club of Mitchell.
Our congratulations to Summer Hanna who was yesterday presented with the inaugural Zonta Club Mitchell Award by Vice president Mrs Lynne Groves.
Summer, with her proud Parents; Katie and Steven and Assistant Principal Senior School; Ms Julie Parker on hand, was thrilled to receive as part of the award, an Acer Laptop and internet access to assist her with her studies throughout her senior years. Summer is a very worthy recipient with her diligence in class, her resilience and her clear goals for her future.
Well done Summer and thank you once again Zonta Club of Mitchell!
