The Wonder Program has officially ended and we are thrilled with the amount of bread bags we were able to collect in such a short amount of time!
The Science team has therefore decided that we would like to extend this initiative permanently and include ALL soft plastics, not just bread bags. Soft plastics are the number one contaminator in the recycling system as they are easily caught in the conveyer belt which can shut down the entire system. With this in mind a lot of councils are cracking down on the types of items we are now able to recycle meaning soft plastics end up in general waste.
A soft plastic is defined as a plastic that does not spring back into shape when crushed and includes: bread bags, pasta bags, cereal bags, lolly bags, frozen food bags, fresh produce bags and more
With all the wonderful things that recycled plastic can be made in to, why would you waste it by sending it to landfill? Collect and deposit all soft plastics at the College today.
