Costerfield Mine Visit

On Monday, October 7th, the Year 11 VCE VM students participated in an excursion to Costerfield Mine to deepen their understanding of local industries and workplace practices.

Students were given a guided tour of the operational site, which mines gold and antimony, where they observed modern mining processes, safety procedures, and the range of skilled roles required to keep the mine running.
Throughout the day, students engaged with site staff, asked thoughtful questions, and learned about the environmental management strategies in place to minimise impact. They gained firsthand experience with real-world applications of teamwork, problem-solving, and risk management—key skills within the VCE VM program. The excursion offered a meaningful link between classroom learning and practical industry knowledge, sparking interest in future career pathways and vocational opportunities.
