Wallan Vic Police Visit Year 7 & 8s

Yesterday, our Year 7 and Year 8 Students were involved in a presentation by Wallan Victoria Police about the importance of making the right decision and the effect that decision has on your future.

The students heard the life story of two separate individuals as told by their parent and friend who were involved in altercations that led to their lives changing forever.
The first, James, who on a night out for his 20th Birthday, was sadly the victim of fight which led him to receiving a brain injury and needing to placed into a care home. James was a happy, bright, intelligent, and carefree young person with a positive future and that was all taken away from him.
The second, David, story was told his mate AFL Richmond player; Steven Morris. David was on a night out with mates, when after a scuffle, he was hit with a bottle and then whilst unconscious was stomped on. David was fortunate to recover after being in a coma for two weeks, but his life changed forever. He had to give up his love of playing football and make life adjustments. Steven Morris spoke of once again making the right decision, the smart decision, the need to not put yourself in situations.
Sergeant Aman Rangi and his Constables covered many topics relevant to young people today including the carrying of weapons, vaping, assault, affray and the implications of being charged with these offences. They answered questions raised by the students and were very forthcoming with their responses.
It was a very informative session and WSC wishes to thank the Wallan Victorian Police Officers for being so giving of their time and support.
