Youth Myki Card

From 1 January 2026, all young people under 18 years old can travel free on all Victorian public transport services — including trains, trams, buses and coaches — using a Youth myki card.

  • What this means for your child:
  • Students aged 17 years and under are eligible for free travel every day on metropolitan and regional public transport.
  • To access free travel, students (ages 5-17 inclusive) must have a Youth myki card and tap on and off each time they travel.
  • The Youth myki card costs $5 (for the physical card only) and then travel is free.

How to get a Youth myki:

  • Students can get a Youth myki from staffed train stations, or families can register and order online via the myki website.

Please ensure your child carries and uses their Youth myki card whenever they travel so they can enjoy free public transport across Victoria.
