Year 10 students will be offered the Meningococcal ACWY vaccination as part of the Secondary School Immunisation Program, delivered by Mitchell Shire Health. This program is funded under the National Immunisation Program (NIP).

Consent must be provided online by a parent, guardian, or authorised medical decision maker. Please note that all students require a response, whether consent is given or declined.

Meningococcal disease is a rare but serious infection caused by bacteria that can live in the nose or throat. Teenagers and young adults are more likely to carry and spread the bacteria.
The disease can develop quickly and may lead to severe conditions such as:
In some cases, it can result in serious complications including permanent disability (such as hearing loss, vision loss, or limb damage), and in rare cases, death. Vaccination is the most effective way to protect against meningococcal disease.
