Today, our college community came together to commemorate ANZAC Day with a service attended by our Year 11 and 12 students, led by our College Student Leadership Team. (Dakshesh Yerriah,
Chelsea Rowe, Cooper Lane, Taylah Collett, Jared Petricola, Naomi Riak, Isabel Samuelu and Zac Lynn).
We were honoured to welcome Veteran and RSL member Mr Pat Leddin, along with Mr Martin Scrimshaw, Chaplain and Bugler, who joined us for this important occasion. Mr Leddin delivered a moving recitation of the Soldier’s Prayer, while Mr Scrimshaw performed The Last Post and Rouse, adding great significance and reflection to the service. We are sincerely grateful to both gentlemen for their time and contribution.
Throughout the service, students shared soldier’s letters home, battle accounts, stories from prisoners of war, service records, award citations and poems from World War 1 through to the most recent conflicts. Each reading was delivered with care and respect, contributing to a heartfelt and meaningful commemoration.
We commend our students on the exemplary way they conducted themselves. Their behaviour, maturity and respect reflected the importance of the occasion and made our college proud.
Sophia Finau led the congregation in singing both the New Zealand and Australian National Anthems. A wreath was laid by Tommas Simmons on behalf of our school community, with Kenneth Panakal and Ayaan Hafeez serving as flag bearers, representing our college with pride, as we paused together to remember and honour those who have served and sacrificed.
