Artist in Residence Program

WSC has been offered the exciting opportunity by Mitchell Shire Council to participate in an Artist in Residence program.
The Year 9 Visual Arts class has been selected to work alongside printmaking artist Marieke Dench to explore the printmaking process through a series of hands-on workshops.

Marieke has worked as a professional artist across a range of mediums and has exhibited both nationally and internationally for more than 20 years.
Over three sessions, students will learn the fundamentals of printmaking using gelli print backgrounds and lino printing techniques to create their own unique nature-inspired artworks. The project theme focuses on the natural landscapes of the Wallan area and connects to the Mitchell Shire Council exhibition theme of “Regeneration.”
Students will also have the exciting opportunity to exhibit their work as part of a collaborative class art book, which will be collated by Marieke.
The hART of Mitchell 2026 Exhibition will be held from Saturday 25 July to Sunday 2 August 2026, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, at Broadford Town Hall.
The exhibition welcomes both emerging and established artists from across the region. Artists can submit up to three artworks free of charge via online entry, with a range of prizes available. Click on the link below to enter by June 7th 2026
