Vietnam Immersion Program, December 2026

In December, a group of Wallan Secondary College students will embark on an exciting overseas immersion to Vietnam in partnership with Infuse Travel. 

The experience has been carefully designed to combine adventure, cultural exchange, environmental awareness and community service, providing students with opportunities to develop both personally and globally.

Throughout the journey, students will explore the bustling city of Hanoi, trek through the spectacular mountains and terraced rice fields of Ha Giang, stay with local communities, and experience the natural beauty of Ha Long Bay. Along the way, they will participate in meaningful service activities while learning about Vietnamese culture, history and contemporary environmental and social issues.

More than just a school trip, the Vietnam Immersion challenges students to build independence, resilience, teamwork and intercultural understanding. As part of their preparation, students recently completed a Training Camp where they developed practical travel skills, strengthened group relationships and prepared for the unique experiences they will encounter overseas.

Programs such as this provide lifelong memories while helping students become confident, informed and compassionate global citizens. We look forward to sharing updates from the journey and hope future students will consider taking part in this incredible opportunity.

Here’s what one student had to say about their training weekend -

The Vietnam Training Camp was a great experience and made me feel much more prepared for overseas travel in December. Before the camp I was excited, but also a little unsure about what travelling in another country would be like. Over the weekend I learnt a lot about what to expect and how to prepare.

The hiking, team challenges and cooking together helped our group get to know each other better and build trust. The different scenarios, especially the lost student and traffic activities, showed us why it is important to communicate, stay aware of our surroundings and work together. The packing session also gave me a much better understanding of what I will actually need to take to Vietnam.

One of the best parts of the camp was learning a little bit more about cultural respect and differences and talking about the opportunities we will have while we are there. It made the trip feel real and helped me understand that the experience is about much more than just travelling. It is about learning, challenging ourselves and representing our school well.

Overall, the training camp has made me feel more confident, organised and excited for our Vietnam immersion. I think our group is much stronger after spending the weekend together, and I am really looking forward to travelling in December and experiencing everything Vietnam has to offer.
