Outstanding Achievement – Congratulations Ivy!

Wallan Secondary College is incredibly proud of Ivy Dawson Year 9 on what has already been an outstanding year in boxing.

In 2026, Ivy has represented Victoria on three occasions and has been selected for the Victorian Futures Squad, an invitation-only program that supports talented athletes on the Olympic pathway through specialist coaching and high-performance training.
Her achievements this year include:
? Winning two bouts against New Zealand National Champions in an international tournament.
? Being crowned the Australian Club Champion (U17 63kg) after defeating another Australian Champion.
? Selection to the Boxing Australia High Performance Camp at the Australian Institute of Sport. This was another selection only event, run by Boxing Australia's National Futures Pathway Program. She, along with other selected athletes from around Australia, participated in the 4 day camp (run by Jamie Pittman, Boxing Australia Performance Pathway Leader), focussing on things such as competition sparring, technical and tactical sessions, Boxing Australia athlete testing protocols, and Olympic style boxing.
? Victory at the AIS Women's Boxing Tournament in Canberra.
? Winning the 2026 Victorian State Title and qualifying for the Australian National Championships.
? Claiming her third consecutive Australian National Title (U17 60–63kg division) and, for the second year running, being named Female Boxer of the Tournament for her division.
Ivy's remarkable dedication, discipline and determination continue to set an incredible example both in and out of the ring.
The year isn't over yet! In August, Ivy will compete in the prestigious Golden Gloves Tournament in Queensland before travelling to Tauranga, New Zealand, in September as a member of the Victorian State Team to compete against some of the best young boxers from across Australasia.
Congratulations, Ivy! We wish you every success in the remainder of your 2026 season. Your Wallan Secondary College community is cheering you on every step of the way! ????
