Wallan Secondary College is incredibly proud to celebrate the outstanding achievements of Year 9 student Uriel Westerlund.
Earlier this year, Uriel was selected to represent Victoria in Gridiron, an achievement that led to an even greater honour, being selected to represent Australia at the Festival of Football in New Zealand.
Competing against New Zealand's Under 16 Gridiron team, Uriel proudly wore the green and gold as one of only two Running Backs selected from across the country. He delivered an outstanding performance, scoring Australia's first two touchdowns and was recognised as the Offensive Most Valuable Player (MVP).
This incredible achievement is a testament to Uriel's dedication, hard work and determination, as well as the unwavering support of his family and the Hume Eagles Rugby League Club.
Uriel's journey is far from over. He is currently on the watch list for selection in the inaugural Asia Pacific team, which will travel to Dallas, Texas, later this year to compete on the international stage. We wish him every success with the upcoming selection process and look forward to following his exciting journey.
Congratulations, Uriel! Your commitment, sportsmanship and achievements make the entire Wallan Secondary College community proud. We can't wait to see what you accomplish next.
