Representing Family, Legacy and Community

Wallan Secondary College is incredibly proud to recognise Year 12 student Hayden Styles for the outstanding manner in which he recently represented his family at the annual Shoalhaven "Kane Vandenburg" Digger Day.

Hayden attended the event on behalf of his late grandfather, Mr Michael Pratt GC, Australia's last recipient of the George Cross, whose remarkable legacy was honoured throughout the weekend. Hayden’s grandfather was also the celebrated hero on the team's rugby shirts.
Following the event, the College received a heartfelt email from one of the organisers and official event photographers, praising Hayden's conduct and the positive impression he made.
Throughout the weekend, Hayden was described as mature, humble and respectful, confidently representing his grandfather's legacy while engaging with veterans, serving Defence personnel from HMAS Albatross, rugby players and members of the wider community.
The organiser also spoke highly of Hayden's willingness to assist others, his genuine respect for Australia's veterans, and the confidence he developed over the course of the event. His actions were recognised as a credit to himself, his family and Wallan Secondary College.
At Wallan Secondary College, we are incredibly proud of students who demonstrate our values not only within the classroom but also in the wider community. Hayden's conduct is a wonderful example of the character, respect and integrity we strive to instil in all of our students.
Congratulations, Hayden, on representing your family, your grandfather's remarkable legacy and our College with such distinction. We are incredibly proud of you.
