Commemorating the Battle for Australia

Our College Captains and Prefects joined students from across Melbourne at the Shrine of Remembrance for the Commemoration of the Battle for Australia (1941–1945).

The moving service recognised and honoured the significant contribution and service of First Nations Peoples during the conflict.

Students shared extracts highlighting the stories and experiences of individual Indigenous soldiers, providing a powerful and deeply personal reminder of their courage, sacrifice and service.

Our College Captains, Cooper and Chelsea, proudly laid a wreath on behalf of the staff and students of our College, paying tribute to all those who served and sacrificed during this important chapter in our history.

The participation of the RAAF and Navy Cadets added great significance to the service, while the entry of the Catapult Party and the bugler playing the Last Post was a particularly moving moment, creating a powerful sense of reflection and remembrance.

Following the service, our students had the opportunity to tour the Shrine and explore its many exhibitions, gaining a deeper understanding of Australia’s military history. They also enjoyed speaking with the Shrine’s wonderful volunteers, whose knowledge, stories and passion for preserving our history made the experience even more meaningful.

We extend our sincere thanks to the Shrine of Remembrance for their kind invitation and for providing our students with such a meaningful opportunity to learn, reflect and pay their respects. Days such as today remind us of the importance of remembering the stories of those who served and ensuring their courage and contribution are never forgotten.
